At media4schools, we strive to develop a varied curriculum that offers a multitude of opportunities in digital media from entry-level school age through to Further and Higher Education. Our aim is to help equip learners with the skills needed to work successfully in the area of digital technology.
Our strategy aims to create opportunities for young people to increase the range and complexity of experiences and content they have access to, and we support schools to use film and media more creatively across the wider curriculum.
Giving support to schools across Wales offering diplomas, the new qualification for 14-19 year olds, has allowed us to use our combination of theoretical and practical hands-on learning. The aim is to prepare pupils for the work place with enhanced practical and transferable skills, industry knowledge and business awareness.
We are constantly developing the skills of our own staff and we ensure that we use the very latest technology to keep up-to-date within the industry. We are then able to pass on this knowledge to schools and teachers so that they are at the forefront of technological developments.
The media4schools model proves to be an ideal fit with the objectives of the 14-19 strategy and Sector Skills Councils in Wales and England. It also helps with the UK Government target of ensuring skills developed in education are closer to the requirements of UK businesses in their drive to compete in and service a global market.
media4schools helps to link schools with businesses, public sector organisations and community groups, by creating programme production opportunities for pupils to demonstrate their skills and develop their enterprise awareness. This helps to raise the profile of the school and businesses they connect with in the community and also gives the participants invaluable experience for their own personal and career development.
media4schools courses are accredited by Agored Cymru, formally Open College Network, and we are also offering the new Essential Skills Wales qualifications. One of our central aims as a successful training provider is the development of employability skills. We are able to build courses that can be personalised for individual and groups of learners with credit-based learning allowing us to do this. Consequently, this method of delivery is embedded in a wide range of our provision, and in particular, the courses we offer as part of the 14-19 learning pathways.
