Back to news list

media4schools mixed with the stars recently at Ponty's Big Weekend, held at Ynysangharad Park in Pontypridd.

With help from Matthew and Zoe from Y Pant School and Marni and Keera from Penygawsi Primary who made up the production team, we were able to film the event and get close to the acts to quiz them about their performances in front of a 7,000 strong crowd.

One of those stars we were lucky enough to meet was Sophie Evans, runner up on the popular Over the Rainbow TV programme, which searched for a Dorothy in the West End production of The Wizard of Oz. Sophie had left her ruby slippers behind to perform at the Big Weekend which she was very excited about.

We also interviewed fans who told us about the acts they were looking forward to seeing, Red Dragon FM's Erin and Lee, and we recorded presenter links for the film.

The highlight of the day was an amazing performance by JLS, the headlne act, who performed for an hour to thousands of screaming fans!

Costain, who sponsor Ponty's Big Weekend, had invited us along to film the popular music event to show their community involvement as part of the Church Village Bypass project. media4schools has been working with Costain to document the development of the new road being built and this insert will feature in Episode 5 of the Church Village Bypass Series.
